“There Must be Something in the Water!”

Have you got talent? Well, I can guarantee that Johnsonville does! Johnsonville School District held their first district-wide talent show Thursday, March 17th at the JMS gym. All three schools demonstrated an amazing amount of talent.   Everything from singing, dancing, playing musical instruments, and even an entire band put on a show for the community. The show began with the Elementary Division showing off with beautiful songs and exciting dance routines. First place went to the ‘The Boss Babies’ – Brianna Lawrimore and Easton Crocker – with their dance routine to “Roar” by Katy Perry. The winning group ‘The Sassy Divas,’ – LyAsia Nesmith, Ella Hodges, and Chloe Ard – took home the trophy for their dance routine to “No” by Megan Trainor.

Next, we had the Middle Division. This was a tough category! McClary Lawrimore showed off her amazing vocal chops taking home the 1st place win for her rendition of Disney’s The Little Mermaid theme song “Part of Your World.” The house was brought down by the smooth moves of YzeQez ‘Weezy’ Timmons. He took home the winning trophy with his incredibly flawless dance routine to “Rolex.”

We ended the night with the High School division. This category was nearly impossible to judge considering every single act was incredible. First place went to Destiny Cribb’s beautiful rendition of “Love Triangle.” However, the evening culminated in epic proportions with the local teen band, Cruise, took the stage and brought classic rock to life again with their live version of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing.” Cruise is made up of Alydia Lamb on lead vocals, Landon Hardee on keyboards, Derick Moore on drums, Logan Smith on lead guitar, and Tanner Wise on bass guitar. Ending the night with a standing ovation and shouts of “ENCORE,” the “Cruise” band took us all back to classic rock heaven!

The 1st Annual Johnsonville School District Talent Show was a great success, leaving the crowd wondering “What’s in the water here in Johnsonville?” We’d like to give special thanks to the J’Ville Cast (district Drama Club) for sponsoring the event – all proceeds went to funding their summer trip to Broadway in NYC!
